About
Niamh Ferguson is a Belfast born artist whose work explores ‘installations of division’ as well as physical manifestations of capture, control and surveillance.
Most recently, the artist has used etching to explore the tension between urban landscapes and Celtic mythology. The viewer is asked to consider the contrast between the earthbound chill of concrete and steel with the warmth of feathers in flight.
The Children of Lir is a well-known Irish tale and the landmark legacy of military installation is familiar to anyone who has watched news footage of the ‘Troubles’. The etching doesn’t seek resolution but provides a visual stimulus for reflection.
